Parachute Laboratories offers a broad selection of parachute ripcord handles manufactured for sport, emergency, military, aviation, and specialized parachute applications. Standard configurations are available, or we can manufacture custom handle shapes and sizes to customer drawings and system requirements.


Our handle offerings include Standard D, Curved D, Low-Profile D, Micro D, MC-4, Helwedge, HAPPS, Clover Leaf, Martin-Baker-style, irregular/custom configurations, and other application-specific designs.


Handles are fabricated from MIL-SPEC 304 stainless-steel tubing with fused ends for strength, durability, and a clean finished appearance. Standard buff and bright-luster finishes are available where applicable.


We can also manufacture complete ripcord assemblies to customer requirements. Standard assemblies utilize 7 × 7, 3/32-inch stainless-steel aircraft cable, with ripcord pins manufactured from Type 302 stainless steel. Pin blade length, pin-hole diameter, cable length, multiple-pin spacing, handle configuration, and other dimensions can be manufactured to the applicable drawing or customer requirement.


Inspection & Quality


Parachute Laboratories manufactures and inspects ripcord handles and assemblies IAW the applicable MIL-SPEC, engineering drawing, customer specification, purchase order, and contractual requirements.


Inspection requirements are determined by the specific part and governing documentation and may include:

  • 100% visual inspection for workmanship and material defects

  • Dimensional verification against the applicable drawing

  • Material verification as required

  • Inspection of fused handle ends and finished surfaces

  • Verification of cable attachment and terminations

  • Ripcord-pin dimensional and surface inspection

  • Verification of cable length and multiple-pin spacing

  • Functional inspection of the completed assembly

  • Final conformity inspection against the applicable drawing, specification, or purchase-order requirements

  • Required inspection and traceability documentation for military or controlled-production orders


Historical Parachute Laboratories product documentation specifies that these products undergo multiple inspections, identified as 100–400% inspection, reflecting the level of attention given to components intended for life-support applications.
