Parachute Laboratories manufactures .375" parachute ripcord housings in accordance with PIA Standard PS70104, adapted from MS70104, with MIL-DTL-7750 identified as the applicable procurement specification. These assemblies are intended for parachute reserve ripcord installations requiring a standardized, durable, flexible housing for positive and protected routing of the ripcord cable.
The housing provides a controlled routing path between the ripcord handle and reserve closing system, helping protect the ripcord cable from excessive bending, abrasion, snagging, or interference while allowing the cable to move freely when reserve activation is required.
The PS70104 configuration specifies flexible corrosion-resistant steel tubing with a nominal .375" inside diameter and permanently attached end components. The drawing requires the ferrule to be securely attached to the tubing and specifies the ferrule/grommet termination configuration used on the completed assembly.
Construction and material requirements include:
Flexible tubing manufactured from CRES 304, with CRES 302 permitted as an alternate
Stainless-steel ferrules manufactured from specified 301 or 302 CRES
Brass grommets manufactured from specified copper alloys
Burrs and sharp edges removed
Finished assembly manufactured to the dimensional and material requirements of PIA PS70104
Housing length measured under a specified 5-pound tension
Applicable PS part number permanently identified on a ferrule
